Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in response to a question on how technology interacts with financial solutions to empower women in India that 45% of all loans issued under the “Mudra” program went to women, which is a way of saying that the government is working to empower women. She made the remarks after an event at Johns Hopkins University in Washington on “Technology, Finance and Governance: The Multiplier Effect.”
